Space to Thrive

A campaign to build the spaces, skills, and support students need for tomorrow. Kilgour has long been a school where families invest. Not only in today’s students, but in the learning environment that future students will inherit. This campaign builds on that tradition.

Campaign Goal: $250,000
Timeline: 2026–2028

Big ideas, real impact.

Over the next three years, the Kilgour Foundation will make targeted investments designed to transform how students learn, play, and grow. These are improvements that will serve Kilgour families for years to come.

Space to Thrive is a focused, multi-year campaign centered on three key investments:

  1. Expanding hands-on STEM learning

  2. Creating safe, usable outdoor spaces

  3. Investing in teacher excellence

Each area is designed to strengthen the daily learning environment in meaningful, lasting ways.

STEM Learning: From Interest to Deep Engagement

All K–6 students already participate in STEM/STEAM instruction each week. What’s needed now is the infrastructure to support deeper, more consistent, hands-on learning.

Kilgour will transform an underutilized computer lab into a dedicated STEM Center through a nationally proven partnership model.

This includes:

  • Hands-on equipment for engineering, coding, circuitry, and design

  • Technology such as tablets and 3D printers

  • Standards-aligned curriculum

  • Teacher training and ongoing support

With funding in place by summer 2026, the STEM Center will open for the 2026–27 school year.

Investment: $100,000

  • $70,000 for partnership, build-out, curriculum, and training

  • $30,000 for five years of supplies

With funding in place by summer 2026, the STEM Center opens for the 2026-27 school year—giving this year’s kindergarteners through 6th graders the chance to learn in a space built for discovery and learning.

Outdoor Shade: Making Play and Learning Possible

Outdoor time is essential—but much of Kilgour’s playground and field space lacks shade.

During warmer months, students have limited options to cool down, rest, or comfortably spend time outside.

This includes:

This investment will provide:

  • Permanent shade structures near key play areas

  • Outdoor tables and umbrellas for shaded lunches

These improvements make outdoor spaces usable more often and support student comfort and safety.

Investment: $100,000

Teacher and Staff Development: Strengthening Every Classroom

The most meaningful improvements in student learning happen through great teaching.

While teachers receive district training, it doesn’t always align with Kilgour’s specific needs.

This campaign brings high-quality training directly on-site, so teachers can learn together and apply best practices immediately.

This includes:

  • Student engagement and cooperative learning

  • Responsive Classroom practices

  • 21st-century learning

  • STEAM/STEM instruction

Investment: $50,000 over three years
